Singer, John Lewis, belts out angst ridden lyrics telling of everything from missed romances to the denouncement of formal education. Element94 flourishes now from its once, humble roots back when their sound was nearly synonymous with that of a tourettes sufferer hijacking a microphone. Thankfully, E94 is no longer considered noise pollution but rather, the quintessential garage band turned local pop punkers from the peninsula. Check them out on MySpace, give “Every Little Bit Helps” a listen.

I’ve been to a lotta shows in my day, from Bruce Springsteen to KoRn to Mr. Scribble. I went to my first show long before the first hair sprouted out of my ass, I saw KISS when I was the tender age of eight at the Oakland Arena. 9 years later I returned, this time sportin a hot young female by my side and seeing the Foo, The Weez, & the Heat. We were seated close enough for me to throw my bra at Rivers of Weezer, lucky for him I was free-boobin it. Hot Hot Heat opened, and I gotta say, I don’t normally listen to them but I think they converted me, that curly haired singer has got spunk. I came for Weezer, I left loving what I came for; Weezer kicks the shit out of shit, and the six male strippers only made them rule more. Rivers belting out the beginning of “Say it Isn’t So” damn near floored me, Eebs and I have always been been in agreeance that that is the perfect song. I did enjoy when there were 3 weezer men on drums. Good ol Dave pretended to do be a guitar savvy member of the audience volunteering his abilities to play “The Sweater Song” by Weezer, whipped his hood off and rocked it with rivers, oh weezer how much ass kicketh thou? Foo Fighters took over keeping the flame burnin Dave killin his axe and banged his head very hard.

We blew up this little missle shooter firework thing in the college parking lot, it tipped over upon ignition and shot tiny little firework projectiles at us as we scurried into Randy’s mom’s minivan and sped off. Badass.

It’s so hot my balls are stickin to my knees! Good thing <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/pics/index.php?id=3753"target=new>Green Day was off the sheez, for reez. It’s true, thanks to my <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/pics/index.php?id=3755"target=new>main mayonaise Ebert, for hooking it up with two tickets for me and my <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/pics/index.php?id=3754"target=new>swell gal pal to a attend a marvelous rock and/or roll concierto. The lineup included Jimmy Eat World & Floggin Molly, and there was <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/pics/index.php?id=3750"target=new>fire too and <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/pics/index.php?id=3748"target=new>fireworks. We drank beers. The show got out around midnight, and we headed over to Ian’s abode, free from parental supervision, with plenty of those kettle chips handy, salt & pepper is what I like. <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/pics/index.php?id=3759"target=new>Colin Crawford plucked his 4-string with a blistering vengeance *you can bet that pun was intentional*, <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/pics/index.php?id=3758"target=new>Eebs played that 6-string and took us all to Funkytown, Ian…<a href="http://www.nbhq.net/pics/index.php?id=3760"target=new>hit drums with drumsticks. Good times. Lame Post.

H.I.M. show last night, pops and I got dressed up to look like bad muthafuckas, although I was feelin kinda downshifted that I couldn’t find any dark eye makeup or black silks to put on :/. But its all bueno cause my dad went the whole night with his shirt tucked in. I tried to rep the heartagram as hard as I could, but once we got there it looked like everyone else had beet me to the repping..lotta skinny white guys in tiny black H.I.M. shirts. Whatever though man, pops and me…we was rockin. Doors opened at 7:00, show started at 8:00 with these guys, kinda reminded me of the puppet things that sing at Chuckie Cheeses, except they weren’t as talented and they didn’t have skee-ball . They were pretty bad and no one clapped so he ended his set early and ran for cover backstage before his mechanical bandmates were massacred by the sea of scrawny goth kids with mythical daggers and demons blood could get to em. Second act, Program the Dead kicked a good amount of ass, some clean guitar licks and the singer could wail. They had a couple good tunes, I liked this one in particular so click it to download it.

9:48, the lights go out, purple and pink lights illuminate the stage and you could see the bigass heartagram logo being pulled down from the raptors as if it were a gift from hay-zeus himself! And there stood Ville Valo in all his glory…They opened with “Buried Alive by Love” which blew me away, and than every song jus got better and better, Ville’s voice seemed to stretch from Shaq to Cher, yeh man, he’s jus that damn good. The keyboard guy thought he was hot shit since he could play everything with one hand, Linde tore his axe up like a hobo anda ham sammich! All the riffs were heavy and full of metal goodness, good ol fasion Finnish metal man, thats what its all about…love metal.

So needless to say the show was a damn good one, if H.I.M. ever comes to your city or redneck town I strongly suggest throwin down the twenty bucks or whatever currency rednecks use to pick up a pair of tickets for you and your livestock.

Earlier that day I went grocery shoppin with my mutha, something I have not done in a buncha weeks, months maybe. Went at like 2 in the afternoon so I still had the pillow imprint on my head and slippers on my nakedass feet. Oh did I mention it was safeway? Cause it was.. Anywhoo, all the shoppin around for milk and cereal got me jonesin for a bigass sammich to consume with my bigass mouth. I strut over to the deli and ask the gent for a sammich to satisfy my He-Man hunger, so what does he charge me 5.99 for? How bout this pussified excuse for a turkey sammich, I mean…jus look at this, now this could mean two things…1. I have a VERY white hand, or 2. Safeway makes the most pussified sandwiches ever that don’t even taste good. The End.

Went with my family into the city to go see <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/images/news/dec04/banner.jpg"target=new>Jim Campilango play at Bruno’s. Pretty weird place, one of the strangest menus I’d ever seen, I still no idea what the hell a “Maque Choux” and I’m not totally sure if I ate it or not either, the water was fantastic though . Took a while for the food to come, the <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/images/news/dec04/grammaandi.jpg"target=new>plates kept shinin in my eye. Seeing <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/images/news/dec04/jim.jpg"target=new>Jim play was definately one of the high points of the week, watchin a guy play a guitar with such finesse, watchin his fingers glide from chord to chord, instills a image that I want to aspire to someday become. Anyway I was havin a good time watchin em play until <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/images/news/dec04/tallbastard,jpg.jpg"target=new>this guy comes and stands in front of me. Why did the only guy taller than me in the whole place hafta come stand in fronta me? Hmm? This guy had to be like 6’8″ / 6’9″ easy, not big tall, kinda giraffey-tall. Whatev, I got to hang with <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/images/news/dec04/gemini.jpg"target=new>Jim for a sec after the show and I met his parents too.

So after the show, bout midnite my dad and I <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/pics/index.php?list=Hitwall%20Studios/December%2023rd%202004"target=new>hit up the studio and put on a lil show of our own he was pluckin the bass while I did some funky guitar work. Was fun, <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/images/news/dec04/e.jpg"target=new>this poster made me laugh, and so did <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/images/news/dec04/jesuswtf.jpg"target=new>this, oh and <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/images/news/dec04/mendown.jpg"target=new>this was cool too.

Sites been doin good, got more than 1.5 million hits this month, over 20,000 uniques, and the javascript errors were fixed thanks to my good bud <a href="http://www.nbhq.net/images/news/dec04/gerry.jpg"target=new>Gerry from new York, and I added alotta content. Well thats that, merry christmas em effers.

Got my first night of real sleep last night, all the rest didn’t count, this morning was a different morning because I counted it. One down. Hard rock music is how I’m feelin today, give me the tones, feed me H.I.M. and Finch is a good band. I got up pretty early and ate some shitty cheerios for breakfast in one of those dwarf boxes. Washed it down with some Chrys. Ruffles himself came over this mornin sportin his third car inna month. This onesa popo mobile complete with eight cylinders and a cool blue coord thingy and hard beat. Too bad he crashes all his cars, and almost ran me over when I tried to take a pic of em. Pretty sweet ride though, luxury interior, illegal tinted windows jus like Randy’s.

So yesterday, my pops picked me up to go to Hitwall so I could rock the guitar lika mutha fuckin killer. He slapped the bass around while I made my six string cry out loud. Got a nice lil session in before another band came in and gave us dirty looks for using their amps . Anyway I wasn’t about to get in a fight with a guy who speaks fluent klingon and probably carrys a phaser so we got outta there. Oh wanna hear somethin funny? My dad went through a carwashatta gas station, and halfway through it a chunk of bumper fell off. Pretty funny huh? Oh and his antanne snapped off too, hah frickin hah. Well if that dint make your serious ass laugh, maybe this pic of my cousin will.

Oh and also, ya know how I’ve been goin to the gym almost nightly with Eebs? Well the only reason I get it is because he flashes his card real quick and tells em I’m his brother Grant. So I try to kinda keep my head low and not make eye contact with the guys at the desk and get into the lockerroom ay-sap. Wull that worked for almost 2 weeks till last night, one of the new fucks musta looked Grants pic up on the computer and asked “Whens your birthday Grant.” Busted as fuck, had to pay the TWENTY DOLLAR guest fee, which I still owe him. Aint…thatta..bitch. Jus thought I’d share.

Now if you’ll notice on the right side of the site where it says how many people are online, its been over 100 almost all day peaking at almost 200. If your wondering what thats from, its the fact that our shoebox system section was featured on the legendary CollegeHumor. That also put NBHQ over the 1,000,000 hits mark. Ahhta way! Until next time bitches. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals
